Dr. Ghulam F. Dogar
MD, FRSCI, FRCSC, FACS
Dr. Ghulam Farooq Dogar brings extensive expertise in ophthalmology to Stratford, Ontario. With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Dogar has specialized in medical retina and surgical glaucoma, alongside cataract and eyelid surgeries.
Dr. Dogar earned his M.B.B.S. from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, and completed his Primary FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow and Edinburgh. He holds advanced qualifications in ophthalmology, including an Optics and Refraction Module from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Since 2001, Dr. Dogar has been an ophthalmologist at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, focusing on medical retina, surgical glaucoma, and various complex procedures. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he is involved in teaching medical students and residents.
Dr. Dogar's leadership experience includes serving as Chief of Staff Surgery at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre from 2015 to 2018, where he supervised the surgical department and chaired multiple committees.
Internationally, Dr. Dogar has held positions in Ireland, the UK, and Pakistan, enriching his expertise in managing diverse ophthalmic conditions and performing advanced surgical procedures. He has also contributed to research and audit projects, highlighting his commitment to advancing ophthalmic care.
Dr. Dogar is licensed and registered in multiple countries, including Canada, Ireland, the UK, and Pakistan. He is an active member of several ophthalmological societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.
Outside his professional life, Dr. Dogar enjoys activities such as golf, skiing, cooking, and staying active with sports like squash and badminton.
